Humaira Jaleel

Humaira Jaleel, Speaker at ACHIEVE Women in Leadership Conference

Topic: The Importance of Mentoring Young Women

Humaira will share her experience with the immigrant community and her role in supporting Muslim women to grow and thrive. She will discuss the importance of investing time and effort in developing young women and offering them the opportunity to take on leadership roles in their communities.

Humaira is the Chief Operating Officer at the Canadian Muslim Women’s Institute, a community organization that was founded in 2006 as a direct service to new immigrants and refugees. She also serves as the Co-Director for Amnesty International Winnipeg (Group-19) and is a founding member of the Rohingya Human Rights Network Canada.

Since moving to Winnipeg in 2008, Humaira has held leadership positions in two faith-based organizations, namely Tanvir Peace Academy that serves newcomer and refugee children, and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA Sisters). She has also served on several committees of the Manitoba Islamic Association. For her advocacy work, Humaira was awarded the UNPAC Activist Award in 2017 by the Provincial Council of Women of Manitoba. She believes that mentoring relationships enable the next generation of leaders to lead with confidence and strength.
