Mike Labun

Mike has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Certificate in Conflict Resolution. He has over twenty years of experience as a leader in the mediation and conflict resolution field. Mike believes that education and training is largely about giving hope – people often come to a training to address a particular situation, and they want to leave with a plan to change it. In addition to facilitating workshops, he is a Mediator and also works as one of ACHIEVE’s Training and Development Specialists. Mike is co-author of the book, The Culture Question, and is the author many of ACHIEVE workshops including Emotional Intelligence and Mediation. As a trainer, he uses his experiences working in a manufacturing environment, inner-city drop-in, boys camp, and as a mediator to illustrate the material.  Mike has an interactive and engaging style that easily motivates participants to incorporate workshop material into their own environments.

For those who work in an environment where there is potential for violence, it is important to develop the skills needed to defuse dangerous situations. This workshop is designed to teach people to de-escalate potentially violent situations through assertiveness and interpersonal communication. The training will explore how anger and violence interplay, including opportunities for self-assessment of personal communication styles.

Registration Information

Register Early! Seating is limited.

Children and unregistered guests are not permitted in the meeting rooms.

The Early Registration rate is available for those participants who submit both their registration form and payment 3 weeks before the workshop.

Participants will receive a spiral bound training manual and a certificate of completion.

Workshop Schedule

The workshops start at 9:00 a.m. and conclude around 4:00 p.m. Please arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. on the first day to check in and receive a training manual. Regular breaks are scheduled throughout the day. Participants are on their own for lunch from noon to 1:00 p.m., unless otherwise stated above. Our half-day workshops start at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 12:00 p.m.

Cancellation Policy

Registrations cancelled seven or more days prior to the workshop are refundable, minus a $50.00 administrative fee. Alternatively, you may receive a credit to attend a future training. Cancellations less than seven days prior to the workshop are non-refundable. If at any time you are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your registration to another individual at no extra cost. In this case, please notify ACHIEVE of the name and email address of the alternate person who will be attending.

We reserve the right to cancel workshops due to unforeseen circumstances or under-enrolment. Liability is limited to a refund of workshop fees only. Please make travel and accommodation arrangements with this in mind.

Group Registration Instructions

To register a group for a workshop, register for selected workshop, then once in shopping cart, add quantity of participants and provide names of all participants.

Continuing Education Credits

While many associations and licensing bodies accept ACHIEVE workshops for continuing education credits, questions about approval should be directed to the specific association or licensing body for which you are requesting the credits. Credit hours: There are six continuing education credits earned for each day of training. For example, a one-day workshop earns 6 continuing education hours, while a two-day workshop earns 12 hours. A certificate will be awarded upon the completion of the workshop.
