Critical incidents are situations that occur outside of our normal frame of reference and challenge us to understand and cope with what has happened. Critical Incident Group Debriefing (CIGD) is a short-term group intervention process that focuses on an immediate event. CIGD is one of several methods that may be utilized to lessen the likelihood of people experiencing symptoms of trauma and stress after a critical incident. This group debriefing process provides a place for participants to talk and share experiences, and for the facilitator to teach and provide information about the impact of critical incidents. While participants of this webinar will learn about facilitating a group debriefing, they will also learn how to discern when CIGD is appropriate for a group and when it might not be a suitable intervention.

Method of Delivery
Each webinar is 60 minutes in length. Live webinars will each contain 60 minutes of instruction from the facilitator using visual powerpoint slides and then there will be 5-10 minutes at the end of the webinar when participants can ask questions directly to the instructor and hear feedback from them in realtime.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants should be able to
- Describe a framework for facilitating a group debriefing
- List the benefits and potential problems with group debriefing
- Identify when critical incident group debriefing is appropriate

Continuing Education Credit
While many associations and licensing bodies accept achievecentre workshops for continuing education credits, questions about approval should be directed to the specific association or licensing body for which you are requesting the credits. Credit hours: There are six continuing education credits earned for each day of training. For example, a one-day workshop earns six continuing education hours, while a two-day workshop earns 12 hours. A certificate will be awarded upon the completion of the workshop. Filming and Photography
ACHIEVE Centre for Leadership reserves the right to film video content and take photography at our events. Some of our workshops will be live-streamed and filmed for participants not in attendance.
